Children and Youth Librarian

 

The Strasburg-Heisler Library is seeking a professional, friendly, and tech-savvy individual to build and maintain its collection of children and young adult materials, and to plan and facilitate programs for school-age children and teens.

Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be friendly yet professional with the public. The Candidate should be a self-starter, flexible, motivated, and reliable. Neatness and attention to detail are critical, as is working collaboratively with staff members.  Other duties include assisting all patrons with technology, the use of the library’s equipment, and reader advisory.

Candidates must be physically able to lift and move library materials up to 30lbs and to stand, sit, stoop, walk, and reach within a confined area. This position is part-time, will most likely include one evening per week and occasional Saturdays.

Library experience and at least two years of post-graduate education in the field at an American Library Association accredited university is required. MLS preferred.
